Welp, it only took HelloGames four months to bring along a major update to add some much needed functionality to No Man’s Sky. With its not-so-smooth launch back in August, No Man Sky is one step closer to the product that was advertised months before with the introduction of update 1.1, aka the ‘Foundation Update’.
Hoping to spark some much needed interest back into No Man Sky, HelloGames have dropped one massive update yesterday on all major platforms. Clocking in at 2.7GB in size, the Foundation update aims to inject the original game with a plethora of new and exciting features, fixes and optimizations.
First and foremost would be the addition of base building and having the ability to craft essential equipment, recruiting lifeforms to help research new technology. Hire space farmers, engineers and other specialists to help with your homestead grow. Expand your new home with storage containers and hoard all the precious resources to prepare for long journeys and exploring the unknown.
Players now have three possible game modes to mess around in, among those being the vanilla game and its relaxed exploration experience. Creative mode will allow players to explore the universe without limits and build huge bases on newfound planets. Of course, where would exploration survival games be without Survival mode, aimed with creating a more challenging endurance experience.
Hopefully with the newest update and with the promise to continue updating and improving No Man’s Sky, we will one day get the game most people thought we were getting. For the rest of us, the game has gotten that much better with the Foundation Updates many additions and improvements. It’s going to be interesting to see where HelloGames takes No Man’s Sky from here, perhaps adding multiplayer, which is the most asked for feature by the player base. Whether that’s possible or not is to be seen, but I bet it would be very well received by gamers and help mend their tarnished reputation.
