So, Dead Island Definitive has arrived. Following on the trend of re-releasing games, that everyone and their uncle is obsessed with right now. Whether it needed one or not…let’s be honest, it kinda’ did. Though I’m sure just about everyone would have preferred some tweaking done to the original game, rather than effectively charging us twice for the same thing. Especially at a price of $19.99/€19.99/£14.99 each or $39.99/€39.99/£29.99 for the Dead Island/Riptide bundle. But eh, that’s business I guess.
They promise a whole slew of upgrades, which include photorealistic lighting, physically based shading and anti-aliasing. The latter of which we already have on the PC, but whatever. I’ve had the chance to have a quick look around myself, and it does look rather nice, but the janky animations from the original are only more evident because of it. Still, it does seem to have fixed most of what held the original release back. So I’d still say it’s at least worth a look.
Available now across all major platforms.
