Deep Silver released a new cinematic trailer for Homefront: The Revolution today which gives us a better insight into the backstory of the game. It’s a timeline trailer briefing us on the event from 1972 to 2027, the rise of North Korea and the fall of the United States of America. As I predicted North Korea did shut down the US military tech which allowed them to easily occupy the country.
What is more interesting though is the other trailer that actually came out yesterday. It is the one about the history of the Homefront world and it reveals that the new game is a reboot. The events don’t just change from 2000’s but actually differ from the events of the Korean War. It was the Soviets who lost the and North Korea was a democratic and prosperous country. It shifts the roles of North and South Koreas (with South not even being mentioned) where NK is even the one to get the Silicon Valley…I mean River…and its own Apple knockoff – Apex.
Overall this is a very interesting material and anyone interested in the game should take look at both videos as well as read through the press release below.
Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios today revealed the all-new backstory to Homefront®: The Revolution by releasing the opening cinematic to the game, titled ‘America Has Fallen’.
A re-imagined alternate history dating back to ashes of the Korean War documents the fall of one global superpower – and the rise of another, driven by the ruthless APEX Corporation in a world with chilling parallels to our own.
“The core premise of Homefront – an occupation on American soil – remains unchanged, ” said Hasit Zala, Game Director at Dambuster Studios. “But we have created a brand new fiction that offers a very different interpretation of how we got there.”
The full story behind the rise of APEX is told in the gripping 2026 documentary, APEX and the Technology of Control www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk10PzMRPmE
