You’ve Got Red On You – JCB Pioneer Trailer

Posted on 29 Aug 2017

We recently covered the reveal of JCB Pioneer: Mars and thought it looked like a lot of fun. At least as much fun as playing with a toy truck in the sand, we know you’d do it too if you could.

This latest trailer features scientific advisor to the game, Maggie Lieu, also a researcher at the European Space Agency, talking about the possibilities and dangers you’ll face in the game. These range from relatively mundane radiation, heat and dust storms but some aspects are exaggerated too, like the aforementioned storms generating lightning strikes powerful enough to damage vehicles or clouds of acid fog.

Early access to the game kicks off 31 August 2017. Get your ass to Mars!

Developer, Atomicom, and publisher, GamesCo have released the latest feature JCB Pioneer: Mars video outlining what players can expect in the upcoming sci-fi survival sandbox. With esteemed astrophysicist, Dr Maggie Lieu, providing advice to Atomicom during the development process, this video explores how JCB Pioneer: Mars is utilising that expertise and real-world science to create a credible, hostile game environment. The red planet will throw meteor strikes, dust clouds and electrical storms at the player as they attempt to colonise its beautiful but dangerous landscape. JCB Pioneer: Mars launches for Steam Early Access on August 31st. View the Red Planet video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6pHzYgnMCI&feature=youtu.be

JCB Pioneer: Mars begins as the player awakens from a crash, surrounded by the wreckage of their Lander vehicle amidst falling debris and hurtling winds. Survival is the first goal – locate oxygen and establish an outpost. As the player slowly begins to establish him or herself on Mars, learning to combat the planets fierce and hostile weather patterns, they begin a larger operation of colonisation. Life-support infrastructure is crucial but so is mining natural resources, as part of a broader mission to save an ailing Earth. Equipped with the futuristic, heavy-duty construction and mining vehicles designed in collaboration with JCB’s industrial design team, every would-be astronaut has a chance of surviving and thriving in the face of extreme planetary challenges.
