Sonic Forces “Classic Mode” Trailer

Every time Sonic gets some screen-time, the eternal underdogs in the Sonic community get stars in their eyes and hope in their hearts, and just maybe, that might be warranted this time.

Sonic Forces, a PC and console Sonic game that SEGA promised us to be a “modern-era” Sonic game, just got its first trailer showing off the “Classic Mode”, where the screen goes 2D and Sonic does what Sonic does best; he goes fast. Better yet is that it’s all shown off on a glossy remake of Sonic’s classic Green Hill Zone.

So far, Sonic Forces looks like a surprisingly decent Sonic game, or at least a less buggy one than what we’ve seen recently. Even the “3D mode” didn’t break many hearts when SEGA showed it last month, though if SEGA is going for call-backs, there’s still time to add pause-jumping Knuckles or gravity bugs.

So far, so good, but there are still months ahead of us until it’s unknown release date. Until then, stock up on chili-dogs and replay a few Genesis games hoping for the best.
