Kingdom Come Delivering Weapons and Armour

Showing us both how combat works in game, and the real world inspirations, the latest video from Warhorse delves into the world of fourteenth century warfare. Although many were saddened to see Kingdom Come delayed into 2017, it’s clear that time is being put to good use. Demonstrating how effective period accurate weaponry is against an unarmoured pig carcass, which went on to be a tasty din-dins for all involved. Contrary to popular belief, a fully kitted out warrior was not prone to being cut into little pieces when wearing even light chainmail, so don’t expect to be seeing that in the finished game.

With full plate armour, things were even more difficult. But don’t let that trick you into thinking that you can wade into battle and come out unscathed. After all, even a child can be taught to find the weak point in a knights armour. Or just grab a polearm and pierce straight through it. This will make for a lot of tactical thinking when approaching different foes, with multiple weapon types (blunt, piercing and slashing) and varying degrees of body cover, Warhorse have committed themselves to being as accurate as possible.

Animations are still more than a tad on the wooden side, but it is already clear just how complex things have become. Layer on varying weapon and armour qualities, and you have yourself a very deep combat system that promises to reward the diligent, and most importantly crafty, players.

Check it out, because “this is fuckin’ awesome.”
