Kingdom Come: Deliverance Delivers Some News

Warhorse Studios, who have been tirelessly slaving away on their game since 2012, took a quick break to deliver some great news about their upcoming single-player medieval RPG game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance. One such morsel of goodness is their sophisticated armor layering system, which implements all the true-to-life pieces of armor a medieval soldier would actually adorn in the Kingdom of Bohemia back in 1400’s. Players will be able to customize their character with a sixteen slot layering system, with another four slots being available for us to equip a variety of weapons. The game will have a highly sophisticated physical collision system which will take in effect exactly where a player gets hit at. If you don’t have the proper armor covering said spot, you will take more damage. It’s not your standard RPG armor suit with +100 defense stat across the board. Each armor piece only protects a particular vulnerable area, and will get weakened over time, requiring players to clean, fix, or replace a piece at a time for optimal defense.

The main course, so to speak, would be Kingdom Come’s in-depth RPG system. In this open world players are free to choose a multitude of playstyles, similar to The Elder Scrolls series. The more you utilize a particular skill, such as speech or stealth, that skill will continue to grow and advance over time. Players will also have the option to further develop any skill via Trainers, which in the end will guarantee each player having their own unique, personalized character to explore, defend and conquer the vast Bohemian countryside. Adding another layer of realism to this historically accurate RPG game is the inclusion of survivability stats, you must eat, drink and rest to maintain a strong and healthy soldier, tend to your wounds with bandages and medicine, sleeping when tired and even having to manage your food supplies, what to bring on a journey, since like real food, it can spoil and you wouldn’t want to get sick would you?

Warhorse Studios began its much anticipated Beta Access since March 3, 2016, and for more details about the mentioned features, please check the press release below as well as visit Kingdom Come’s website.

Official Press Release

Warhorse Studios happily presents new features in the development of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. In this new video, the developers delve into the extensive RPG System, the sophisticated armor layering system and introduces the item quality and survival elements.

RPG System
Shape your character and level your skills. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an open world RPG and allows you to freely choose your playstyle: a diplomatic way using your speech skills, a sneaky way using your stealth skills, or a violent way with your weapon ready. You will only become better by actively using your skills or by visiting different trainers. But be careful, everything you do in Kingdom Come: Deliverance will affect your reputation and you’ll have to face the consequences.

Armor layer system
Kingdom Come: Deliverance offers you a 16 slot armor layering system (+4 weapon slots) which allows you to fully customize your character.

  • 6 body slots (cloth, chainmail, plate, sleeves, gloves, coat/hood)
  • 4 leg slots (trousers, chainmail, armor, boots)
  • 4 head slots (coif, chainmail, helmet, necklace)
  • 2 jewelry slots (ring, spur)

(Weapon slots contain: weapon, shield, bow, arrow)

Layer different types of armor over each other to prepare for the next battle. From a soft linen shirt to massive full plate armor, every material is good against different types of attacks such as slashes, stabs and blunt hits. Combine different materials to use their benefits and negate their weak spots. A sophisticated physical collision system calculates the exact position of each strike. Due to the collision system, armor pieces only protect particular spots on your body, but the more hits you receive the more your armor is weakened. Keeping armor clean and in good shape is crucial; dirty, bloody or destroyed armor has a direct influence on the effectiveness, your appearance and your reputation. This could result in quests becoming easier or harder, trades cheaper or more expensive, or people might greet you warmly or attack you on sight.
A wisely chosen piece of armor might make the difference between survival and death.

Survival and item quality
Your weapons and armor can be destroyed, which will drastically decrease its quality and effectiveness. Bring your armor to the local smith or use a grind stone to keep your gear in good condition.

Wounds can only be treated with medicine, bandages, food and sleep. But food can spoil so choose wisely what to bring on your next quest. A lack of food or sleep will harm you and affect your overall vitality, combat strength and can eventually lead to death.

Beta Access to Kingdom Come: Deliverance
On March 3, 2016, Warhorse Studios released the tech Beta of Kingdom Come: Deliverance for Windows PC. This release includes a part of the game’s main storyline, multiple quests, new combat systems, weaponry and the first large-scale battle.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance Beta Access is available for everyone supporting the game through our official website:

It does look good but I have a feeling that it will be a bit boring in the same way ARMA is. If you are dedicated enough and have plenty of time then it's great, otherwise, not so much.

I'm still super siked to get my hands on this, it looks gorgeous, it's incredibly in-depth, single-player story with tons of content to keep you busy, at least, I hope so :D

I'm still remaining highly sceptical, but the more I hear...
