Imagine a Blade Runner-esq, open-world, multiplayer shooter, then imagine it’s set in Tokyo, throw in some cats. make it isometric, design it with pixel art and primary colours and presto-change-o, you’ll have Tokyo 42 in your head…now what are you going to do about it?
Personally, I’m going to obsess over this intriguing game until it either disappoints me, or I get to live my own cyberpunk adventure. Tokyo 42 is the first game by an ambitious team of two brothers that formed SMAC GAMES ltd, they’re certainly not lacking in ambition or imagination.
Tokyo 42 is described as being “the love child of Syndicate and the original Grand Theft Auto. It’s planned as being story driven, open-world and multiplayer, all in real time! I can’t quite imagine how all that will work together, I also can’t wait to find out, almost as much as I can’t wait to see more of that gorgeous, clean, pixel art style.
The video above is the latest teaser from SMAC GAMES ltd, and demonstrates some of the ways to murder people. Tokyo 42 is on course for release early 2017, and a closer look behind the scenes can be found here.
