War Thunder, World War II Chronicles

Gaijin Entertainment does it’s celebration for the end of the War in Europe with it’s usual ‘Chronicles of World War II with limited vehicles.

Every day you will get a chance to play through different battles of World War II through the events tab, and each time you complete an objective within the achievements tracker you earn a point towards some special limited vehicles, such as the following:

  • US Navy’s PV-2D Attacker can carry an impressive loadout for taking on ships, or if need be, enemy tanks.
  • Infantry Tank Mark II “Matilda” with a Russian F-96 cannon for the Soviets via lend-lease.
  • Soviet Yak-3T Fighter armed with an impressive cannon that can take out some smaller tanks.
  • British Experimental tank A33 Excelsior, which is almost a TOG II.

Now the Yak and A33 vehicles are unlocked after getting 11 of these awards, you can purchase missed rewards with Golden Eagles, but this author believes the price to be a little high, as doe some of the community. However, besides that you can also get new 3D decorations, various SMG’s and a StG 44′ through this event, along with some rare decals thrown in as well.

18th April, 2017 — Gaijin Entertainment’s MMO Action Game War Thunder now features ‘The Chronicles of World War II’, a four-week long event series that will see the reconstruction of 40 major historic battles of World War II. Dedicated to the 72nd anniversary of Victory Day, the Chronicles are available until May 10th and will give millions of players the opportunity to obtain new Premium vehicles, decals and 3D decorations that are exclusive to this event.

Every day new and exciting battles will be introduced both on land and in the air. Players will be able to fight in all theatres of World War II, from the old cities of Europe, to the  the hot and unrelenting deserts of Africa and the vast expanses of the USSR and the Pacific islands.  All events take place in chronological order, starting from two historical milestones of 1941 – the German invasion of the USSR and the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. This week, the pilots and tankers of War Thunder can participate in the famous Battle of Midway and Battle of Stalingrad, among other encounters. The closing battles will be fought on May 9th and 10th, leading from the outskirts of Berlin to the steps of the Reichstag.

During the entire series, participants will be able to earn ‘Chronicle Awards’ by performing various tasks of choice, e.g. by destroying a certain amount of enemy vehicles. For every three tasks performed, players will receive a new and unique decoration for their vehicles. For six, the first unique vehicles are available: The U.S. PV-2D attack aircraft and a Soviet version of the British Matilda tank equipped with a 76mm F-96 cannon. Then, after eleven, players can obtain the British heavy assault tank A33 Excelsior and an anti-tank modification of the Soviet Yak-3T fighter.
