Ubisoft is busy testing out the highly anticipated 2nd expansion of Tom Clancy’s The Division. They would love it if you could help with testing the now available public test server for the upcoming Update 1.5 content, as well as trying out the major Survival expansion too.

PC players can join in on the test today, up until November 13th. The Survival expansion content will have players facing extreme conditions after a massive snowstorm brings down their chopper. Resources are limited, the Division agents must find supplies, food, water and clothing to survive the elements, but their not alone. Twenty three other agents lurk in the shadows, including a mysterious and deadly new foe, the Hunters.

Division agents will be able to switch between PvP or PvE within the new Survival area, Rogue status doesn’t apply in this new mode, strike against other players or find some common ground and work together all over New York, surely adding a whole new level of entertainment to this well played open-world third-person tactical shooter.

While your off messing about in The Division, take a quick gander over at the graphical options, you might notice something new with the latest 1.5 update. Microsoft’s “amazing” new API, DirectX 12 is now available to use, whether this is like the vast majority of other DX 12 games (with NVIDIA users at least) in which they perform worse in general is left to be seen. I currently don’t have The Division installed in order to test out the new renderer, which in my case, has been a complete hit or miss type of deal on my rig, mostly misses.

Be sure to check out the new content while you can before the public test phase is over in a few days, if you end up trying the DirectX 12 render mode, please leave a comment on your findings, would be interesting to see how good (or bad) the game now runs.

Till next time agents, safe travels!

Official Press Release

LONDON, UK — November 8th 2016 — Today, Ubisoft® announced that a new Public Test Server (PTS) is now available for PC players to join until November 13th. The PTS will be used to test Update 1.5 as well as Survival, the second major expansion for Tom Clancy’s The Division®.

In this new expansion, players will face extreme conditions after their chopper is taken down by a snowstorm. As Division agents, they have information about a potential cure for the pandemic and they will need to be extracted from the Dark Zone. Finding warm clothes, supplies, food, water and medicine will be vital to their success. However, the environment is not the only danger out there; players must also be aware of 23 other agents and face off against the Hunters, a new mysterious and deadly enemy who is always one step ahead of them.

In Survival, players will be able to choose to enable either PvP or PvE. In PvP, while the Rogue mechanic does not apply, agents can fight against or cooperate with other players in every corner of New York, even outside of the Dark Zone. In PvE, players will be able to play in cooperation with other players, PvP is disabled, even in the Dark Zone.
