Bigmoon Entertainment and Camel 101 have announced the release date for their upcoming confining sci-fi survival horror title, Syndrome. This recent Steam Greenlight game which places players upon a doomed starship drifting in space as you try to find clues and piece together what’s happened to your lost crew, all while trying to survive a nightmarish living hell.

Syndrome claims to bring players back to the roots of the survival horror genre, back when you weren’t tripping over weapons left and right and having to choose whether to stand and fight the monstrosities ahead of you, or run and hide, conserving the precious little ammo you scavenged along the way.

Bloodthirsty creatures roam the dark claustrophobic corridors of this dark and dangerous derelict starship. Sometimes it’s best to hide then to go toe to toe with the fast and deadly abominations you encounter after awakening from a long cryogenic deep sleep. Where have your fellow crewmates gone? How long were you asleep, drifting aimlessly in space? What are these horrible creatures that are running rampant on this once quiet starship?

From the games description and from watching the above 13 minute long gameplay trailer, I can’t help but be reminded of such great horror titles as Dead Space, Doom 3, Alien: Isolation, System Shock 2, Outlast and even some not so amazing titles, such as Dead Effect and Caffeine. Syndrome is already looking to be an amazing atmospherically chilling romp in the darkness and I’ll be keeping an eye out for its inevitable release come October 6th.

Official Press Release

September 14, 2016 – Camel 101 and BIGMOON Entertainment today announced that Syndrome, their claustrophobic survival horror title, releases October 6, 2016, on PC (Windows, Mac, Linux) and early 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

A member of the ship’s crew, you awaken from cryosleep to find it’s not at all the way you remember. Your friends and coworkers are gone. In their place, transformed monstrosities that kill without mercy. The ship is completely adrift in space without a course or destination, so you will need to uncover the events that took place during your sleep to have any hope of surviving this waking nightmare.

Syndrome takes survival horror back to its roots with weapons that are few and far between, and ammunition too limited to take out all the bloodthirsty creatures roaming about the dark confines of the ship. Fast and deadly, your enemies are not always better dealt with head on―sometimes staying out of sight is a wiser decision.
