Montreal, Canada – August 1st, 2019 – Thunder Lotus, creators of inspiring hand-drawn indie games, have today released a new trailer for their upcoming game Spiritfarer. The trailer provides a deeper look into the relationship between protagonist Stella and the spirit passengers that she will meet. It explores the topics of friendship, developing a relationship with your passengers and eventually guiding them to the afterlife.

European players attending gamescom will be able to try the game for the first time at the Microsoft booth at Hall 8. The game was announced earlier this year during the Xbox E3 2019 Briefing.

In Spiritfarer you take on the role of a ferrymaster to the deceased, and build a boat to explore the world. You will farm, mine, fish, harvest, cook, and craft your way across mystical seas to care after your spirit friends, and guide them across mystical seas to finally release them into the afterlife. It aims to deliver a visually-striking experience that is both entertaining and emotionally moving. What will you leave behind?

Spiritfarer is scheduled for release in 2020 with Xbox Game Pass for PC (Windows) and Xbox One, as well as PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch

Thunder Lotus previous productions, Jotun (2015, 1500 Steam reviews with Very Positive average) and Sundered (2017, 1700 Steam reviews with Very Positive average) earned high praise from press and players alike for their gorgeous visuals and challenging gameplay.

Eager to explore other game genres and to tackle more mature themes and a richer narrative framework, Thunder Lotus has brought on AAA-veteran Creative Director Nicolas Guérin (EA, Ubisoft) to helm the development of Spiritfarer.
