Project Genom is an MMORPG in its early stages of development, and has received a major update this week effectively increasing the map size by 10 times the previous size. Among other things, the update squashes bugs and overhauls some existing quests while adding many new ones along with several new dungeons.
While all of these things sound good on paper, confidence in this title seeing completion is a mixed bag. Project Genom has seen its share of legal troubles just recently involving an ex-employee and a claim of copyright infringement and extortion. This resulted in it being pulled from Steam for just short of a week back in late November, due to Steam’s policy to immediately remove titles from their store page in the event of any lawsuit being filed against them.
Things like this don’t exactly instill confidence in the people who hope for a successful release. Legal disputes during development like this can definitely shake the confidence of your player base; but many people who were following this on their forums applauded the developer, Neuron Haze, for being transparent about their legal dispute, doing their best to answer questions and keep their player base happy.
Project Genom is currently on sale during Steam’s Winter Sale event for a nice 30% off discount, hopefully this game gets back on track and leaves Steam Early Access and ultimately sees a successful launch.
The NeuronHaze team has been out of contact for quite a long time, we have worked hard on our project trying to improve it. And now the leading news of the day: in the first quarter the game world will be increased by 10 times, new quest and dungeons will be waiting for the players.
Already today we can proudly present some new Project Genom content:
In addition to the interesting competitions, we are glad to inform you that Steam has allowed us to take part in the annual Steam Winter Sale, and you will be able to help Project Genom development buying the game and all addons at a discount of 30%! If you haven’t made up your mind, we remind you that the project is in its alpha version. If it’s important for you to get a full game and enjoy it to the full, we strongly recommend you to wait until the beta test or the project release not purchasing any early access kits now.
