Project CARS, Slightly Mad’s labour of love and a tribute to the racing games community, is about to receive a Game Of The Year Edition treatment. Just a few months off till the game’s one year [full release] anniversary but the developer is already getting ready to celebrate with the GOTY edition at some point in spring 2016 (probably around the one year release date mark). The GOTY version is going to contain additional DLC cars already added to the game as well as 2 “exclusive” cars, Zonda Revolucion and Huayra BC, and the Nürburgring Combined Nordschleife track.

What’s better yet, people who already own Project CARS will be able to upgrade without being forced to rebuy the whole game again. So watch the trailer above, enjoy some dramatic music, a montage of a car that you will never be able to afford and read the official press release notes below.

Official Press Release

Lyon, FRANCE – 3 March 2016 – With its ongoing appeal and ever-growing fan base, and following on from the critical acclaim of the original core game released in May 2015, developers Slightly Mad Studios, and worldwide publisher BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe, are pleased to announce the upcoming release of Project CARS Game Of The Year Edition on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC.

Featuring all the elements that made the original core experience a runaway success, the Game of the Year Edition will add even more to what is already the definitive racing sim:

An additional 50+ cars (125 total)

  • 4 tracks (35 unique locations, 100+ layouts total)
  • 60+ community-created liveries
  • 500+ features and improvements that have been added since launch

In addition, the Game Of The Year Edition will feature two distinctive and exclusive items:

  • The iconic Nürburgring Combined Nordschleife+ GP circuit
  • 2 exclusive vehicles to Project CARS from Pagani Automobili, both unveiled today at this year’s Geneva Motor Show – the Zonda Revolucion, and Huayra BC

Almost five years ago, we started on a journey to create the most authentic, most beautiful, intense, and technically-advanced racing game on the planet. The game that launched back in May of last year was therefore the ultimate culmination of our own experience making accomplished racing games for over a decade, along with invaluable input from real-world racing drivers who gave us unprecedented insight into the motorsports world, and the wishes and desires of the racing community through our equity crowd-funding platform called the WMD Portal which allowed fans and players to test the game from day one, and who gave us feedback and guidance every day thereafter.” said Ian Bell, Head of Studio

Project CARS has seen enormous growth via its On Demand and Esports programs since its launch. It also leads the way amongst other racing titles in employing new technologies such as built-in support for 12K, and Virtual Reality.

The Game of the Year Edition is both a celebration and a thank you, from Slightly Mad Studios and BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe, to the racing community around the world as they have made Project CARS into the start of an exciting new franchise, and the leader in the sim racing game genre.

Project CARS Game of the Year Edition will be available in spring 2016 on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC.
