Lock’s Quest is an ARPG/Tower Defense hybrid and a first release for developer Digital Continue. Published by THQ Nordic, this much anticipated title has opened to mixed reviews, but its ambitious fusion of genres and quirky clockwork artwork is likely to be appealing to a lot of gamers, many of which are likely to recognize as a remastered edition originally published by THQ on Nintendo DS in 2008.
The revised edition of Lock’s Quest sports some definite improvements, including an endless mode, remapped controls for both gamepad and controller/mouse configurations, and a fully remastered soundtrack in high definition. New artwork, user interfaces, and custom pixel art maps round out the revamped release. Gamers looking for their next real-time strategy fix may want to give Lock’s Quest a try as the story progresses through 75 days of warfare and a variety of maps. Collectors will love the weapons, gadgets, and special attacks.
Fans of the Nintendo DS release will note one significant difference, the absence of multiplayer. With all of the improvements and attention to detail, one can only hope that multiplayer will be included in a future update. For now, there seems to be quite a bit of eye candy to keep even the most loyal Lock’s Quest fans entertained.
