With the first Alpha cycle right on our doorstep, Ubisoft are kicking advertising of their Medieval multiplayer battle arena For Honor into high gear. Giving us not one, or even three this time, but four new videos to sink our teeth into. All of which shows content which will be available in the Alpha from the 15th to 18th of this month. Those who have been selected will already have received a confirmation E-mail, which includes privileges for inviting three more people. So if you happen to know anyone who got in, now is the time to start sucking up.
The videos themselves contain a very basic introduction to the Samurai faction, as well as a more in depth look into the Orochi. Who boast of being “the greatest warriors the world has ever seen” mixing the ideal blend of visibility and protection in their distinctive armour, with lessons learned from the totes never really existed Ninja clans. They are quick, agile and carry the signature katana. Arguably the single most effective bladed implement ever created.
Next up is the Conqueror. A shielded powerhouse of the Knight (English) faction. Comprised entirely of convicted, brutally violent criminals that were given the opportunity to atone for their sins by, uhm, killing even more people. Wielding a spiked morning star, they are not the most mobile unit, but their vast experience and aggressive temperament mean they don’t really need to be.
Finally, and again saving the best for last, is the Viking Berserker. I actually spoke about their real world counterpart in the previous set of For Honor trailers. And I hold that the Raider is still closer to the Berserkr, but it’s nice to see unit with the name all the same. Wielding twin, long handled axes with curved blades, this allows them to almost instantly switch from long reach to point blank melee. Meaning they are most certainly not to be trifled with lightly.
Further details on the Alpha schedule can be found in the press release below.
Hello warriors! We are proud to launch our Closed Alpha this week, from Sept 15th to the 18th! Invitations will be sent today, September 13th. The Closed Alpha will test a work-in-progress slice of the multiplayer content with a limited number of players in order to generate feedback and assess for stability and is not a reflection of the final game quality that will be available at launch. You will also have the opportunity to invite three of your friends. Again, your comments and feedback are very important, and the Ubisoft forums are the perfect place to let us know what you think!
If you don’t receive an invitation, it means you have not been selected for this Closed Alpha. DON’T BE SAD, early access phases are part of our philosophy, we have done some in the past, we will have more in the future, and you may be part of the next ones!
If you haven’t signed up yet, you can do so here: www.forhonorgame.com
You will find below our content roadmap. As you can see, players will get their chance to embody skilled and deadly elite warriors from the Knight, Viking and Samurai factions as the Closed Alpha will feature four previously showcased heroes – Kensei, Orochi, Warden and Raider – plus two brand-new warriors – Conqueror and Berserker. Each one of them is equipped with a unique set of skills, weapons, armor and fighting style as well as a wide library of customization options. The Closed Alpha will also give players the first look at the progression system as they unlock new feats and weapons and gain rewards following their success on the battlefield. The For Honor team recently released spotlight videos of each of the playable heroes in the Closed Alpha here.
Also, during this Closed Alpha, players will not have to sign a non disclosure agreement, which means streaming, sharing, tweeting and talking about the game will be allowed! Our Closed Alpha forums will be public, so everybody can interact together and discuss their experience. Our community team will be all over our social channels to discuss with you and gather your feedback.
That being said, don’t miss our Closed Alpha Revelation Stream on Wednesday the 14th at 3pm EST, we will go over the game content before we open the gates!
