Fantasy Strike – New Game From SSF2THD Remix Designer

Posted on 15 Sep 2017

We’ll be the first to admit, fighting games often fly under even our radar because the genre is pretty heavily entrenched at this point. Tekken hasn’t been good in close to two decades, Street Fighter arguably topped out in the 90’s, Guilty Gear and Blazblue are mostly cult favourites, and the less said about Mortal Kombat the better.

With all those out of the way we can get to talking about Fantasy Strike. From the designer of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix (that’s why it’s abbreviated in the title,) David Sirlin, Fantasy Strike is aiming to be a new way for both casual and hardcore fighting game players to enjoy the genre. Accessibility is the key word here; one button super moves, releasing all controls to counter, simple move lists and short combos. That’s not to say it’s all going to be simple, more hardcore fighting game mechanics are present; rushdowns, zoning, frame traps, crossups, grappling.

Fantasy Strike is available right now on Steam Early Access.
