Best known for their work on Guilty Gear, Blazblue and a few other fighting games with gorgeous, hand-drawn art, Arc System Works is back with a brand new Double Dragon game. After acquiring the license from Technōs Japan (who went defunct in 1996) in 2015, Arc is hoping to capture the feel and art style of the original series, by bringing on several of the original team members back to work on the latest chapter in the Double Dragon saga.
The first numbered title in the series since 1990, Double Dragon IV sees Billy and Jimmy Lee punch, kick, and throw their way through hordes of enemies. Coming to both PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam this January the 29th and 30th in North America, respectively, and while no price point has been offered, the Japanese cost of 800 JPY, which roughly translates to $7 USD, so one could reasonably expect a cost within that price range.
YOKOHAMA, Japan – December 30, 2016 – Arc System Works Co., Ltd. is proud to announce Double Dragon IV, the next installment in the classic beat’em up series. The game will be available on the PlayStation®Network for the PlayStation®4 and Steam (PC) on January 29th and 30th in North America respectively (1/30 and 31st JST). Key team members involved in the 1987 arcade version including Original Planner, Yoshihisa Kishimoto, Designer, Koji Ogata, and Composer, Kazunaka Yamane, have teamed up to recreate the next chapter in the Double Dragon saga.
