Official Press Release

Fires Rage Through the Night as Hunt Showdown’s “Tide of Corruption” Event Brings New Rewards and Game-Changing Challenges!

FRANKFURT, Germany – Oct. 4, 2023 – Today Hunt: Showdown launches its “Tide of Corruption” live event, which brings game-changing new features to the bayou and offers players the chance to earn a huge range of rewards, including two new Legendary Hunters, weapons, equipment, and an explosive new consumable, the Fire Beetle. The “Tide of Corruption” event begins on PC today and runs through November 29. The event will be live on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the coming days.

Players will enjoy a brand-new story that continues right where “Tide of Shadows” left off, and can pledge their Hunters to new pacts which each feature a set of unique traits to equip. As fans rack up Event Points they can also take on the new Wildcard Condition, Dark Inferno, which sets areas of the bayou on fire in night maps.

“We are thrilled to launch our biggest and best live event yet,” said Scott Lussier, Design Director for Hunt: Showdown. “Players will take on a new set of challenges as we bring back the popular Inferno Wildcard Condition from the Devil’s Moon live event, this time setting areas of the map on fire at night. The new Fire Beetle consumable allows players to rain fire on their enemies from above and trigger chain explosions throughout the bayou, and the new story takes players deeper into the world and eerie atmosphere of Hunt: Showdown. We can’t wait to see how players change up their game strategies with the new challenges and features.”

Features for the “Tide of Corruption” live event include:

Dark Inferno: When Dark Inferno is active during the live event, areas of the bayou are set ablaze, and players may need to reconsider their strategy. Hunters could adjust their routes to avoid the fire or choose to use the flames to conceal their position and surprise their enemies. This new Wildcard Condition will occur during select days throughout the event.
The New Fire Beetle: The new Fire Beetle consumable is an evolution of the other Beetles available in the game, which give Hunters a view from above so they can find and track their prey. The Fire Beetle offers these same benefits but can also be triggered to explode into a ball of flames, damaging nearby Hunters and monsters and igniting flammable objects in the vicinity.
Pacts: Tide of Corruption introduces three new pacts for players to pledge their allegiance to: the Demented Pact, Death Pact, and Infernal Pact. Each pact gives fans the opportunity to use a set of pact-specific traits which offer new ways to achieve their goals. As players progress through the event, unlocked lore will reveal more about the nature and motivations of each group. Each pact will also offer the chance to earn unique rewards.
Rewards: The new Battle Pass offers both free and premium pathways to unlock different tiers of rewards through the live event. Rewards include two new Legendary Hunters, Burnt Marshall and The Butcher’s Cleaver, a new Baseball Bat melee weapon, and a variety of other new weapons and equipment, including the Vetterli 71 Karabiner Cyclone, the Derringer Pennyshot, and the Bornheim No. 3 Silencer. Weapon Charms and Blood Bond Prizes are available as well in the most challenging and rewarding live event in Hunt: Showdown history.
Hunt: Showdown is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Players can find out more about the latest live event and the game itself by visiting www.huntshowdown.com.

About Hunt: Showdown

Hunt: Showdown is a competitive first-person bounty hunting game that packs the thrill of survival games into a match-based format. Set in Louisiana in 1895, the game boasts a mixture of PvP and PvE elements that creates a uniquely tense experience. It’s not just the creatures who are a threat—it’s every Hunter on the map. In the classic game mode, a match of Hunt pits 12 players—playing solo or in teams of two or three —against each other as they race to take out gruesome beasts for a bounty they must collect and get off of the map. Hunt’s quickplay mode offers a shorter match for solo players to scavenge for weapons as they compete for a diminishing pool of bounty. The higher the risk, the higher the reward–but a single mistake could cost everything. Hunt is available now on Steam, PlayStation and Xbox. For more information, visit www.huntshowdown.com.
