You Shall Not Pass, You Shall Not Collect War Bonds in Battlefield 1

Bringing the French Army, a new game mode and four new maps, the ‘You Shall Not Pass Expansion‘ for Battlefield 1 is coming next month.

Frontlines, the new game mode, combines Conquest and Rush in a mix that reminds me of Conquest Assault, but perhaps more tactical play. Players own one flag on each side, with a neutral flag in between them. After capturing the flags in order, players then attack the enemy team’s HQ, attempting to blow up telegraph stations. The addition of Frontlines and the strategic play of Operations seems to suggest that DICE is attempting to get players to play more intelligently, though whether or not the player-base will follow along with this is another story.

With the arrival of the French Army, players will now have access to the Char 2C heavy tank, and the Saint-Chamond assault gun, along with the new Siege Howitzer stationary weapon, and the Trench Raider elite class, boasting an impressive array of grenades and melee weapons. Six new guns (the Ribeyrolles 1918, RSC 1917, Lebel Model 1886, Chauchat, Sjögren Inertial, and the MLE 1903 Extended) and three new melee weapons (the Cogwheel Club, the Nail Knife and the Trench Fleur) are also coming.

Though a release date has yet to be nailed down, you can bet that with the new injection of content, the Battlefields of World War 1 will be filled again with the sounds of warfare.
