Torment: Tides of Numenera Snags Itself a Release Date

Set one billion years in the future, and imagined as a thematic successor to Planescape: Torment, inXile Entertainments Torment: Tides of Numenera finally has a release date, plus some more information about the special editions you can buy. Built upon the bones of eight highly advanced civilizations, players will traverse the Ninth World to seek knowledge of the question: What does one life matter? CRPG fans will scour the science-fantasy setting for the answer on February 28th, 2017.

If you’re kicking yourself because you missed out on Torment’s crowdfunding, what is surely to be one of the biggest CRPG releases of next year, and its associated rewards, fear not, because inXile and Techland are offering a limited collector’s edition of their game. The large box version comes with the Day One edition of Tides of Numenera, 8-inch statuette, printed world map, 80-page hardcover art book, a traveler’s guide, original soundtrack, talisman, and exclusive in-game armor. There’s no word yet on how much this version will cost, but it, like the base game, will be available on February 28th of next year.

Torment: Tides of Numenera is set one billion years in the future, using the science-fantasy setting created by pen and paper RPG luminary, Monty Cook. Players will experience a game of intricate choices and consequences with thousands of meaningful decisions that will make every playthrough unique.

The game is created and developed by inXile Entertainment, which consists of industry icon Brian Fargo and many other veteran creators of the original Planescape: Torment – one of the most critically revered cRPGs in gaming history.
