The latest trailer for Star Wars Battlefront II features the narration talents of one John Boyega (Finn in The Force Awakens), and a pretty good-looking demo reel as eye candy. With an early section of the trailer devoted to enumerating the improvements over the first Battlefront, it’s clear that DICE and EA are well aware of the lukewarm reception of the original. Boasting 18 locations, versus 4 for the original, 14 heroes versus 6, and 39 vehicles versus 11. Some of the maps featured in the trailer have shown up in previous Battlefront games, and others, not so much. More is slated to come in the future, as DICE has opted for a more “Games as a service” model over a Season Pass for Battlefront II.
New changes also come in the form of weapon attachments, which further affect the performance of rifles, pistols, laser shotguns, and more. Again, iterations on a formula may not seem like much, but when coming off of Battlefield 1, with its lack of weapon customization outside of skins, scopes and bayonets, it marks a more interesting direction for the gunplay.
Galactic Assault, the mode shown off at E3, will also come to 11 maps. There’s far more information in a post on Battlefront‘s website than I can safely disseminate, plus all of the new systems shown off in the trailer. Suffice it to say, Battlefront II is everything most people hoped the original Battlefront would be, and more.
Battlefront II launches November 17th, 2017.
