In a free DLC for everyone, Colossal Order has released stadiums to Cities: Skylines so you too can host the world cup. Match Day introduces the ability to build and maintain your own sports team in your city, reap the rewards and be careful of traffic for home games as it’s going to get busy. Let’s just hope you can end up not copying the failure that was Coventry City’s railway station and keep those coming to your city for a game can get home again quickly.

Also as of a new patch today five items that were originally pre-order only have been unlocked for everyone to use in their cities: the Carousel, Dog Park, Bouncy Castle, Basketball Court and Botanical Garden.

Official Press Release

STOCKHOLM – June 9, 2016 — Paradox Interactive, a publisher of games you can totally kick it with, today released new football-themed downloadable content (DLC) for Cities: Skylines, the award-winning city-building game from Colossal Order. Available for free to all players of Cities: Skylines, the new DLC, titled “Match Day,” allows mayor-players to add stadiums to their towns – and comes with all of the benefits and challenges of hosting major sporting events in their citizens’ backyard.

“Match Day” can be redeemed on Steam for free and downloaded for Cities: Skylines on Windows, Mac, and Linux PCs here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/456200/

Also, Paradox and Colossal Order are celebrating the title’s recent success in the game’s latest patch: in addition to an assortment of fixes and updates to Cities: Skylines, the new patch, available today, unlocks five custom in-game items for all players which had previously only been available with pre-orders. To thank their community for their ongoing support, all players will now have access to the Carousel, Dog Park, Bouncy Castle, Basketball Court, and Botanical Garden in-game (since it was prohibitively difficult to invite all 2-million-plus players to these locations out-of-game).

The free “Match Day” DLC includes:
– Colosseum Order: Build a stadium in your city and become the home of a major sports franchise
– Read the Match Notes: Prepare for increased traffic coming to and from your arena on match day – and reap the rewards from ticket revenue
– Team Workshop: Customize your local team colors and enact new stadium-related policies
– A New Hat for Chirper: YEAH there is
