UK based indie developer, Freesphere Entertainment, has just released the first gameplay trailer for their upcoming launch title, Tether. This new studio is comprised of several developers behind such projects as Solarix and UnderEarth. They formed together to make up Freesphere with a singular ambitious goal of pushing video game storytelling to new heights.
This sci-fi adventure puzzle game is the new kid on the block in the Steam Greenlight community. Players will be taking up the role of Lesleigh Hayes, a single mother aboard the UEF Sonne on a mission to start the terraforming process on Mars. Things go from bad to worse as Hayes tackles deep space isolation as calamitous events unfold around her, bringing her face to face with her own mental instabilities and physiological horrors.
I will admit that this game wasn’t even a blip on my radar, but now that it’s been brought to my attention, and after viewing the near five minute gameplay trailer, I’m hooked! One thing about VR that I find lacking would be the scarcity of horror games, or heavily atmospheric thrillers, this could help fill that void. Fueled by the powerful Unreal Engine 4, packed with amazing voice acting, eerie audio, beautifully terrifying visuals, and hopefully VR support too. Suffice it to say, a worthy Steam wishlist nominee.
With plans to hit the PC, Mac and Linux platforms sometime in 2017, with hopes to support optional VR headsets upon launch, if everything works out as they expect that is. It’s safe to say that the new indie studio feel very confident in releasing a solid product right out the gates, a bold vision indeed. Hopefully they don’t bite off more than they can chew.
Freesphere Entertainment is delighted to announce that we have just released a new gameplay trailer for our upcoming science fiction adventure game, Tether.
At the start of the month we launched our Steam Greenlight campaign with our accompanying environmental trailer. Since then we have been working hard to polish up a small section of the game to create the trailer.
You play Lesleigh Hayes, a struggling mother of three, who is coming to terms with the consequences of her life choices, and how these affect her children as she spends more time away from home. In this section of the game Lesleigh’s mental health is being pushed to the limits as she has to traverse and solve the mysteries aboard the UEF Sonne. Her thoughts are not where they should be, instead she is focused on the memories of her final encounters with her family before leaving.
Tether is going to release in 2017 on PC, Mac and Linux with possible support for the VR headsets at launch.
