The developer behind Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 have recently announced yet another delay for their upcoming sequel.

City Interactive Games decided to push back the release date for Ghost Warrior 3 from January to April 2017, as to further polish and optimize their game so fans can have a great experience at launch on all applicable platforms.

They plans to smooth around the edges and implement more features to the base game with the help from the excellent feedback from all those who’ve tested the game. Aiming for a flawless and smoothly running game on launch, they feel at this time there’s still a lot of important work left to better optimize the game.

I for one, am never bothered by a developers decision to pullback a games release, as long as it’s for legit reasons, like further optimizing and polishing a game, making sure it’s the best it can be from the get go.

Sadly, this is something so MANY companies don’t seem to be concerned about, Mafia III being one of the more recent launch disasters that could have benefited from even a few extra days of love and care. The goal to be out as quick as possible rarely pans out well for any medium, I’d much rather wait a year for a game that works then to play it 11 months early, filled with bugs or missing many core features, cough No Man’s Sky, cough, cough.

From what we’ve seen already in regards to Ghost Warrior 3, it seems like a step in the right direction, wide open and varying environments, and many improvements over its previous installments, combined with purdy visuals and plenty of graphic, detailed gore-porn.

What’s another three months anyway? I believe in the old tried and tested proverbial “Slow and steady wins the race”. You’ll succeed better by working slowly and consistently then by cutting corners and rushing things through.

Official Press Release

WARSAW, Poland (Monday, October 17, 2016) — CI Games, the development studio behind Lords of the Fallen and the Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise, has announced a new release date of 04/04/2017 for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, so it may further polish and optimize its upcoming game currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

CI Games has received excellent feedback from hands-on sessions with press, streamers and fans, and as a result, want to offer its supporters more features in the game for launch. “We’re making an ambitious game and unfortunately still need an extra few months to make sure it will stand up to the expectations of the fans”, said Marek Tymiński, CEO of CI Games

“Our goal is to ensure Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 runs smoothly on all platforms, and right now we still have some important work left on optimizing the game. This is our biggest project we’ve ever worked on and the entire team is pushing really hard to make the entire experience more polished. I really hope everyone will understand our decision and will wait the extra time to play something we’re excited about, and that will redefine our IP and the sniping genre as a whole. This is a new beginning for the Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise.”

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 tells the story of brotherhood, faith and betrayal in a land soaked in the blood of civil war. Players take the role of an American Sniper named Jonathan North, who is dropped into northern Georgia, nearby Russian borders. He has an official mission, and a personal mission – to find his brother. Explore large open-world maps with dynamic weather and a day and night cycle that actually impacts play and decisions. Customize weapon equipment, accessories, vehicles and a drone, and utilize the three pillars of gameplay to your liking: Sniper, Ghost and Warrior.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 will launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 4th, 2017.
