Running naked through the tundra chasing a breakfast squirrel, only to return home to find that pirates have raided your home and murdered your wife, and your best friend is close to death. What would you do? Well the obvious answer is to imprison the three pirates, eat one (you missed breakfast) use the another as an organ bank to save you’re best friends life. And then convert then last one to your cause, and marry her.
Rimworld – teaching you that ethics takes a backseat to survival in the backwaters of the galaxy.
If you haven’t heard of Rimworld by now, then you can’t be one of the million or so people who’ve been playing it for the last four years, giving it a 97% rating on Steam. For an unknown dev with a single game to achieve this level of success, is nothing short of legendary. It’s also a testament to the fact that imagination and skill are more important than money when making a great game.
For the tentative few not brave enough to try Rimworld in Early Access, it’s time to rejoice. The culmination of years of EA feedback and story making gameplay, have finally reached a peak on Wednesday 17th of October this year. With Ludeon Studios announcing Rimworld’s official release. Doubtless this won’t be the end for Rimworld or for Ludeon studios. Apart from the exhaustive amount of mods already available, I’ll be mighty surprised if Rimworld doesn’t get even more content updates or DLC.
