About fecking time! Why this wasn’t a thing from the very beginning is absolutely baffling. Supposedly, For Honor uses a locally managed, Peer-2-Peer system that ensures what you see is exactly the same as everyone else, that your button presses will register exactly when you want and need them. Which is total bollocks… because those two things are diametrically opposed, and the lag has just gotten worse and worse as time has gone by.
But, with Public Test 2 underway as we speak, Ubisoft have relented and, finally, are working on dedicated servers to coincide with a global rebalance of all the classes. As well as adding two more in the near future, as the next season creeps ever closer. With the second public test underway now, it makes me wonder if Season 2 will also see the introduction of leaderboards? For Honor doesn’t seem to have taken off as a major e-sport, but it has certainly made a name for itself well enough that it is far from ignored in professional gaming circles. Most of which have banned the Peacekeeper… because fuck that bitch.
Another change coming soon is a revamped tutorial, aimed at better introducing the game to new players, as well as expanding on the practical experiences of veterans. Which is nice, but all I really care about is that it’ll probably give us a bunch of steel and, maybe, a few gear boxes. Because I need to look purdy when I’m a Valkyrie headbutting people to death. Seriously, that kill is hilarious, it goes on for, like, ten seconds! It’s so insulting, I love it!
FOR HONOR DEVELOPMENT SCHEDULE DETAILED ALONG WITH TWO GAME-CHANGING SEASONS
LONDON, UK — July 27th, 2017 — Today, Ubisoft announced the For Honor development schedule which details a steady rollout of new content releases and improvements to the overall game experience for the rest of the calendar year and leading into 2018. The schedule is headlined by two seasons launching in 2017, alongside plans to introduce dedicated servers further down the road. In addition to major releases, For Honor will continue to evolve through regular gameplay updates which take into account community feedback.
For Honor’s development schedule includes:
These upcoming changes build on over five months of post-launch support, which includes multiple updates, enhancing player experiences and new content launches. This support will continue through the development schedule as For Honor receives updates on gameplay features, balance, performance and network stability.
“Since launch, our team has worked diligently to identify and correct issues that were not apparent with our testing and live phases,” said Roman Campos-Oriola, Creative Director of For Honor. “The For Honor roadmap is how we plan to build a stronger game through elements like dedicated servers. We are committed to our players and look to offer long-term support for the game.”
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other Ubisoft studios,* For Honor offers an engaging campaign and thrilling multiplayer modes. Players embody warriors of the three Great Factions – the bold Knights, the brutal Vikings and the deadly Samurai – fighting to the death on intense and believable melee battlefields. The Art of Battle, the game’s innovative combat system that puts players in total control of their warriors, allows them to utilise the unique skills and combat style of each hero to vanquish all enemies who stand in their way.
