Gaijin Entertainment announces the first Anti-Tank capable Armoured Car coming to War Thunder.
The Sonderkraftfahrzeug 234 (Sd. Kfz. or Special Purpose Vehicle) is coming, specifically the 234/2 Puma variant armed with the 50mm KwK 39 L/60 gun, which was used on the Panzer III Ausf J – M variants, and the failed VK1602 light tank prototype. Not only boasting a good 50mm gun that can take out every light tank, and early medium tanks in game, the Puma also has an impressive top speed of 90Km/h when on roads, easily the fastest ground vehicle in War Thunder at present.
Though the Sd. Kfz. 234 was finalized late in the war, and around 400 of all variants were built, it still helped the Germans with reconnaissance and the ability to engage non-tank targets with ease, or a surprise attack on the flanks of Sherman tanks at short ranges. With the new paid-for-foliage system that Gaijin added in (which is not liked by a sized group of the community, mostly due to the pricing) you can almost get a Puma looking like the ones from the film where they are operating round the Saint Lo area in France, the linked video is from an old British documentary.
However, if you want to have a test with the KwK 39 L/60 and haven’t unlocked later era Panzer III’s, a Russian player put up a user mission with the prototype VK1602 Leopard, to install it, you need to download and place it in the “User Missions” folder of War Thunder, create if necessary.
So, we have our first Anti-Tank Armoured Car in War Thunder, one that has been long asked for, I wonder what we will get next, the Russian BA-10, US M8 Greyhound or the British Daimler Armoured Car? Only time will tell.
