Prey’s Playing with Some Powers

Posted on 29 Mar 2017 by

It’s almost as if they gave us a new Prey trailer just yesterday…oh, yep, they actually did (gasp!), something tells me there will be another one tomorrow too, who knows?!

Today, however, they go a bit more in-depth into the Typhon powers, lots of gameplay, lots of dead aliens and lots of shooty-shooot-bang-bang, and at this point, it’s pretty obvious that Prey will be “Bioshock in space”, injecting powers into your system? Hacking turrets? Lifting up enemies with your powers? Check, check and check.

Even kinda looks like Bioshocks art-style, which makes sense since both use the Rockefeller Center’s 1930’s design philosophy as their reference point…at least I think they do? Anyway, the game comes out this May the 5th on PC and consoles, so we’ll see you again next time when more Prey rolls across our desk here at Pixel Judge.

Official Press Release

In Prey you’ll need more than just your wits to take on the Typhon aliens that are threatening to destroy mankind. But why stop with the weapons and gadgets you’ll find aboard Talos I? Mankind’s last – and only – hope, Morgan Yu, also has the option of “installing” a wide range of human and alien abilities. Get a look at some of the powers you can use against the deadly Typhon – along with exclusive insights from the team at Arkane Studios in our latest video titled ‘Playing with Powers’.

Whether you focus on just human powers – allowing you to run faster, jump higher, use firearms better and more – or if you instead branch off into the myriad Typhon abilities, one thing’s certain: Prey offers players a wide range of ways to annihilate aliens. From Superthermal to Psychoshock and beyond, these powers will make all the difference in your mission to fight the aliens and save the world.

Be on the lookout tomorrow for a new video featuring fresh insight into Prey’s mind-altering Neruomod Division, and for more examples of how you can combine weapons and powers, be sure to check out yesterday’s ‘Power Combos’.
