Update 2.4 for Elite: Dangerous has been released. Titled “The Return” it appropriately sees the return of series long running alien villains the Thargoids. Unfortunately there’s not a whole lot to say at the moment because it’s a big galaxy and not a lot has been seen in the couple of days since the patch’s launch. The patch notes aren’t much more illuminating but we can tell you about a couple of the new features that are present.
First off, there’s now 3 holo-me slots for you to save your commander’s appearance in in case you can’t decide on which of the 12 new hairstyles you like the most. The synthesis function can now produce heat sinks, chaff, limpets, and refill your life support. New planetary bases in the Colonia region. There’s also numerous changes to balance and ship rebuy penalties as well as bug fixes.
Naturally, we’re going to have to wait for an explorer well outside the bubble to find a Thargoid and ask them what they’re up to at the point of a large missile but you can be sure we’ll update you if anyone discovers anything interesting out in the big black. In the meantime, you can check out the patch notes for 2.4.
