Mothership Departure From Gate 17

Helping out the small Texas based developer, Mothership Entertainment, we have Team 17 publishing their flagship game, Aven Colony.

Having already seen this title as it was released on itch.io during it’s early Beta stages, it is nice to see that Mothership Entertainment has gotten some help improving the game and pushing it to a larger audience. Set on the extra-terrestrial world of Aven Prime, which is as varied as our own planet, Aven Colony is a city builder with some interesting local wildlife, as well as an interesting story, as you aren’t the first to the planet.

Also revealed today is the Expedition System which allows you to send off expedition vessels to search the planet, these may find downed craft with or without survivors. They can repair vessels that come in a little hot on landing, can confront splinter or rebel groups of Humans, destroy hostile wildlife, explore ruins and fight automated defenses of the previous inhabitants.

While watching a friend play it, I couldn’t get it out of my head that this was a good attempt at remaking Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri and adding in some extras, with a bit of the slight cartoon style that we see in Subnautica. Aven Colony is something to keep an eye on if you like city builder games, and will be coming to PC in Q2 2017.
