Capcom’s Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite (MvCI) came out of nowhere yesterday with a trailer that revealed the story mode, September release date and a whopping eight new characters.
In a cinematic story that feels and looks like a comic-book crossover, Marvel’s Ultron and Capcom’s Sigma have joined forces to put an end to all organic life using the infinity stones. They’ve joined their cold and unfeeling bodies to turn into “Ultron-Sigma,” a name so unimaginative that only robots could admire it. Now it’s up to the Marvel/Capcom heroes (and villains) to fight for the infinity stones.
These heroes and villains include; Ultron, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, Iron Man, Captain America, and Ms. Marvel from the Marvel side, and Chun-Li, Strider Hiryu, Chris Redfield, Ryu, Morrigan, and Mega Man from the Capcom side with Sigma joining in later as the first of six planned DLC characters.
There will also be a single player arcade, training and mission modes and, of course, online multiplayer. It’s currently unknown what kind of net-code MvCI will have and if it’s GGPO or not, but since Capcom is the developer, it’s likely similar to Street Fighter V’s current one.
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite will release on September 19th, 2017, and is now available for pre-order at $60 for for the base game, $80 for the deluxe version, and a whopping $200 for the limited collector edition that comes with the game, four figures, and a case holding all six glowing infinity stones.
More characters, stages, game features and story mode details will be revealed in the coming months, so stay hyped until then. Mahvel’s back baby!
