While we’ve had a couple of Halo games on the PC before, we’ve been missing the vast majority of the series, including the greats like 3 and Reach. No longer! Microsoft have announced that The Master Chief Collection will be making its way to our digital shores later this year, but not as a whole package.

While the game will be available on both the Microsoft store and Steam, the plan is to ship the games out in in-universe chronological order starting with Halo: Reach (which will also be coming to the console version) and selling additional games through the MCC as they become available. There’s no word yet on what these will cost, or what the release schedule is looking like but we do know that we can expect Reach “later this year.”

In addition to the visual upgrades some of the games in the MCC received on their console release, we’re also being promised 60FPS, 4K/HDR, keyboard and mouse controls, and full multiplayer support with improved and modernised matchmaking. The games will also include the Forge and Theater modes that sparked.

We can hear the Halo theme in our heads already. If you’re as excited as we are, the game’s already available to wishlist on Steam, and you can check out the full info dump from Microsoft here. Stay tuned for more as we get it.
