Get Intimate With the Titans in Titanfall 2

Before we get to more personal introductions, let’s get comfortable with customizing our Titanfall 2 titans, soldiers, and weaponry. Dozens of patterns, colors and camouflages offer an array of options to make every player and titan unique and memorable on the battlefield, along with also possibly masking your presence by blending in with the scenery.

Now, for the meat of the videos: the titan introductions. First up is Ion, a titan who makes plentiful use of energy-based weapons and projectiles to carve through its enemies. The primary weapon is a splitter rifle, a seemingly fast-firing machine gun that tears through enemy titans. The defensive perk is the vortex shield, found in the first Titanfall that absorbs enemy fire before sending it back their way. The offensive ability is a laser shot, a highly accurate yet small laser, much like a sniper rifle. Ion can also lay down tripwire mines, and the laser core ability supercharges energy to obliterate enemy titans through their own defenses.

Next is Scorch, who, by its name, is obviously based around using fire. Its utility spreads explosive gas in an area, to be detonated by its primary thermite grenade launcher. The defensive shield is a molten array that incinerates enemy pilots against it, while the defensive ability sends out a line of fire away from Scorch, burning the ground, titans and pilots alike. The flame core ability is much like the firewall, except in a much wider area, and it easily overheats and overwhelms enemy titans.

After that comes Tone, who is designed around chaining abilities and lockons to accurately destroy its enemies. After three hits from its primary 40mm launcher, a lock is made, and Tone can fire rockets that home in on your target. The utility ability is a sonar spike that pulses in an area, and reveals enemy titans and pilots. The defensive ability is a deployable shield that blocks ballistic projectiles, while allowing Tone to fire through it. Its salvo core ability fires tens upon hundreds of micro missiles that appear to follow your reticle, which can be aimed above and around cover to take down unsuspecting enemies.

Following Tone comes Ronin, who makes use of a large-caliber shotgun to blast pilots out of the sky, while still allowing for an electromagnetic charge to travel along the ground, frying opposing titans. His defensive ability uses his sword to block projectiles, while his ability is a quick phase shift to reposition. Finally, his sword core allows him to set up elaborate killing strikes using his massive blade, cleaving through the enemy team.

Next is Legion, a lumbering titan who makes ample use of his chaingun to cleave his foes apart. Switching from close range, rapid fire to larger-caliber rounds for long range fire, he can also set up an anti-projectile shield to block incoming fire. Another one of his abilities allows him to rapidly lock on to different targets, allowing skilled players to chew through a wide-open field, and his power shot core ability allows Legion to briefly disable enemy titans, opening them up for a rather powerful finishing move.

Last but certainly not least is Northstar, a high-flying, highly mobile titan boasting a railgun that can charge and increase in power and range. It can also lay a tethering trap that immobilizes enemy titans, and has the ability to hover for a period of time, whereupon pilots can deploy a cluster missile to devastate enemy titans. Finally, the flight core opens up the missile pods on Northstar’s shoulders, giving adept pilots new ways to wreak havoc from above.

That wraps up all the news about the titans, though more is sure to come in the following days. Titanfall 2 is set to launch next month, on October 28th.

This looks fantastic, I very muchy enjoyed Titanfall, it was a sweet, fun, fast paced, switch off your brain and just let loose type of game. The massive problem with it was the lack of campaign, being someone who much rather enjoy a single player experience or even a co-op one with a friend... but the half assed multiplayer "campaign" we got for Titanfall was absolutely terrible

I'm extremely happy to see that Titanfall 2 will be fixing that issue and giving it the campaign it deserves, it's a great IP and I look forward to getting lost in its new campaign and then switching over to multiplayer from time to time, pwning noobs left and right :P
