Serving as one part prologue, another part story refresher, and just a dash of tutorial, the prologue for Gears of War 4 takes place across three separate missions to properly ease you into the Gears Universe. For those that didn’t take part in the loud, beefy cover-based shooter that dominated the Xbox 360’s lifespan, The Coalition, developers of the latest installment, are hoping that their extended prologue can at least provide you with some glimpse of what you’ve missed out on in the series, now in updated graphical fashion.

Taking place 25 years after the original trilogy, Gears 4’s prologue hits on some major events that the series covered, from the quelling of a rebellion, to the emergence of the Locust, to humanity’s last stand. Now, with the planet Sera undergoing some serious environmental and weather changes, humanity fights off another unknown foe yet again.

Gears of War 4 launches on October 11th.
