The latest upcoming patch for the Heavensward expansion is entitled “The Far Edge of Fate,” and takes players to new dungeons, exploring new questlines and adding new bosses. Also coming in the massive Final Fantasy RPG is new glamour options for pets, and an update to the Party Finder system, which, instead of limiting its search to your World, now searches within the entire data cluster. Players can also set party passwords to link friends that play across Worlds, to allow for the uniting of parties. PvP modes are also getting updates to a few specific game modes, and a new PvP map is forthcoming as well. The Far Edge of Fate patch drops on January 17th.

This is perhaps just a precursor to the wide-ranging news that Final Fantasy XIV’s second expansion, Stormblood, is coming this summer. Releasing on June 20th, Stormblood brings the Red Mage job, a close-range DPS-oriented physical attacker and magic user; swimming and diving to the entire realm of Eorzea, allowing for new modes of travel and exploration. Also comes a new beast tribe, the Ananta, and a new primal, the Lakshmi; a new high-level raid, “The Bend of Time,” featuring the appearance of Omega; a new Alliance raid, “Return to Ivalice,” which sees talent from Final Fantasy Tactics and Shin Megami Tensei IV combine to craft the experience. Lastly, the longtime composer Nobuo Uematsu returns to create the iconic music the series are known for.

As if that wasn’t enough, players can preorder Stormblood’s Collector’s Edition, which includes a statue of the main antagonist of the upcoming expansion, an artbook showcasing characters and concept sketches, a cloth map of Eorzea, an array of in-game items, and a sticker. This all comes in a box decorated with more artwork. There’s no pricing for either the Standard or Collector’s Edition, but preorders open on January 24th, with full release coming on June 20th.
