Ed “the young commander” is the next character to be introduced into Street Fighter V’s season 2 roster.
Seen in Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V’s story modes, Ed is the adoptive son of Balrog, with M. Bison’s genes and psycho power. While he was a teen then, he’s since been aged beyond his years into an adult by his Psycho Power. Ed’s newfound body and latent psycho power are on display in the trailer above, where he would make his dads proud with his rush-down boxing and clever use of psycho power. Ed has juggle combos that carry opponents across the screen, and OTG’s that just look mean.
His V-skill, “Psycho Snatcher,” pulls in anyone nearby from the air or ground for a free OTG. His V-Skill, “Psycho Cannon,” is a slow moving ball similar to Decapre’s Ultra from Street Fighter IV that extends combo potential, and can be used as a projectile to dash into Ed’s range. His super is Psycho Barrage, which is a series of his fathers punches followed by a psycho uppercut at the end…if the punches connect.
While Ed’s rush punches aren’t as sudden as Balrog’s, and his fireballs don’t go as far as Bison’s, Ed is a nice inbetween with longer combos and stronger defensive options than either one of them. He’s also WAY more stylish with moves that I can only describe as “Rock Howard-esque“.
Ed will soon be available for download individually, or through the season 2 character pass which includes; Akuma, Collin, Ed, and three other mystery characters to come. You can play as Ed this month during the May Beta test between the 11th and 14th.
Ed, the young commander, is the next character to join Street Fighter V as part of the Season 2 Character Pass. Previously appearing in the story of Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV, Ed’s experimental body aged him beyond his years until he was ready for battle. Having been raised by Balrog, his fighting is centered on boxing, but Ed is enhanced by the Psycho Power carried within his genes from M. Bison. Use this power to perform special moves like the ‘Psycho Snatcher’ V-Skill, ‘Psycho Cannon’ V-Trigger and ‘Psycho Barrage’ critical art.
Unleash Ed’s Psycho Power when he joins Street Fighter V soon, along with his Story and Premium Battle costumes. During the Capcom Fighters Network Beta taking place on PlayStation 4 and PC on 11th-14th May, Ed and all previously released characters will be playable for all beta participants for the duration of the test.
The Street Fighter V Season 2 Character Pass is now available for £24.99 / €29.99 / $29.99 and will grant pass holders with Akuma, Kolin and Ed in addition to 3 brand new fighters to be announced later this year. The pass comes with Premium Battle Costumes with colours 3-10 unlocked and default costume colors 3-10 for each character. Additionally, Season 2 Character Pass holders receive an exclusive PS4 theme.
