Devolver Digital are about to go live with their E3 presentation. The only way to watch it is through Twitch @ E3 whose stream is embedded above. Stay tuned for updates to this post as the show progresses!
After a long, blood and swear filled pre-show intro, Devolver finally kick off with the colourful Fall Guys. Looks like Devolver are opening light on info aside from the bouncy cinematic trailer revealing the game would be coming in 2020. We’d hoped to learn a little more but another jokey bit was unfortunately to follow.
Phobia Game Studio are behind the second reveal, a pixel-art reverse-horror experience where you play the horrific amorphous tentacle beast slithering around and murdering the poor humans that get in your way. Carrion is due to release in 2020.
The Messenger is going tropical with a new free adventure coming on 11 July 2019 for existing owners of the game. Expect more slick ninja action and lots of ludicrous, and probably hilarious callbacks to the original game and its many jokes.
Another reiteration of last week’s release date hype trailer. Sadly there’s not much to say here other than the game is coming out on 20 June 2019. You can check out the trailer above.
Devolver Bootleg
Devolver also showed off what we originally thought was a joke, but is an actual game compilation called Devolver Bootleg. Described as containing “eight original rip offs” such as Hotline Milwaukee and Catsylvania. This one’s already up on Steam for sale.
Devolver’s humour really missed the mark. Their gory opening skit had chuckle worthy moments but dragged on for far too long and then the switch to some stoned college student on late night PBS caliber show where the presenters were constantly shouting and clipping their mics, making the show more about them than the few games they had. If I were one of the indies promoted in that segment I’d be scouring my contract for a way out of dealing with Devolver. On the positive side though, Carrion looked like fun and free DLC for The Messenger is brilliant.
