Another year, another Call of Duty.
This tradition has been going for years at this point and while a lot of people aren’t the biggest fan of the series, there are still hardcore fans sitting at the edge of their seats waiting to play the next CoD.
So it’s no surprise that when this image was leaked just a few days ago the internet went mad. There have been tons of rumours flying around about how the image might’ve be fake. The only problem was that the game is apparently listed on the PlayStation Store.
Later on the Infinite Warfare Subreddit (because there’s a subreddit for basically anything at this point) showed us a clear image of the poster itself seen above. The poster itself shows us a ton of interesting things. First off the base game seems to cost by itself $80 USD, this crazy scenario means that the “Legacy Edition” of the game which includes a complete remastered version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare supposedly costs $110 USD. As I expect most of you to know basically all AAA titles that launch at this point in time cost $60 USD and are only bumped up to 80 or 90 if there is a “Season Pass” or something along those lines that comes with it, meaning that this honestly greedy move could be a point of regret for the CoD franchise.
The case against all of this is that, everything here could be completely fake. There is no hard evidence (yet) from Activision or Infinity Ward. Other factors to this theory is that the main Call of Duty font has been changed. The franchise has never changed the font of the primary logo so that could mean the person who faked the poster couldn’t use the real font of the game. Another case to be made is that the top right “Pre-Order Today” bit of the poster looks a bit shady. It seems a bit off from the rest of the poster which could also imply that it’s fake.
All of this could be debated about for ages until we have solid evidence that the poster is real or made in Photoshop by a troll. Either way, just like with the Far Cry: Primal leak, we’ll just have to wait and see.
