Little known fact, I’m actually quite fond of the Man of Action cartoon series, Ben 10. Serialised on the Cartoon Network pretty much constantly, in one incarnation or another, since 2005. It was actually my then one year old daughter who got me into it, but I’ve been a fairly loyal follower ever since. So much so, that I imported its entire, initial, run from the US and bought two different versions of the first game, Protector of Earth, so I could play at home and whilst on a portable console. Why am I mentioning all of this? To impress upon you how badass it is that the new game, simply titled Ben 10, is coming to the PC.

Based on the current reboot, which I must confess to not being as familiar with yet, it’s being developed by Outright Games and published by Bandai Namco. Which makes it doubly impressive, considering how much the latter typically focus on console gaming. Anyway, it’s a fairly straight forward beat-em-up, in which the titular Ben finds himself able to metamorphose into 10 different aliens. All of whom are contained in the game, which is nice. Since earthier games have sometimes contained as few as five. Ben is also 10 years old, hence the name.

Sadly, this being the reboot, there’s no Rath, who is far and away my…second favourite of his transformations. Did I mention that Ben names them all, and they, sometimes, even affect his personality? Anyhoo, Rath is an eight foot, bipedal tiger with giant blades coming out of the top of both wrists, and he comes from a species that think every problem can be solved by hitting things. By hitting things a lot some times. Shame he’s not there.

However, We do have Grey Matter, an eighteen inch, stereotypical ‘grey’ alien with a genius IQ, and Big Chill. An ice powers space moth who once gave birth to a few dozen absolutely adorable babies, that immediately fecked off to live in the middle of the sun. So, yeah, Ben 10 is an awesome show, and it’s about dang time we got a game on the PC.
