Raiders Of The Broken Planet is a 4v1 shooter in which four players can attempt to complete an objective while a single player may invade their game and join the bad guys to stop them completing that objective. Unlike other games of the style it’ll also have a single player option.
That’s not the news today though: we’ve just been told that the prologue which contains two missions across four stages will be released 22 September for free. This free download will include unrestricted access to the single player and multiplayer modes.
At the same time the first campaign pack, Alien Myths will also release for £9.99 and will include new characters, missions, and story. More campaigns will be released at regular intervals, with three planned (Wardog Fury, Hades Betrayal, and Council’s Apocalypse) currently.
Raiders Of The Broken Planet Release Date, Pricing Strategy And Gamescom Trailer Revealed
Discover the Broken Planet Across 4 Unique Campaigns In This 4 v 1 Third-Person Shooter And Brawler!
San Sebastian de los Reyes, Spain – August 18th, 2017 – MercurySteam, the award winning independent development studio behind the multi-million selling Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series and the highly anticipated Metroid: Samus Returns, has unveiled the release date and price for Raiders of the Broken Planet.
Launching on September 22nd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Raiders of the Broken Planet – Prologue will set the scene for the adventures to come. This Prologue is a completely free download, containing a wealth of content including two lengthy missions across four stages, multiple characters to play with and full “no holds” barred access to both the single player and online multiplayer game modes.
On the same day, the first Raiders of the Broken Planet campaign – Alien Myths – will launch priced at a staggeringly low €9.99/$9.99/£9.99. Alien Myths contains hours of incredible additional content including new characters, new missions and an awesome stand-alone story that builds the world of Raiders of the Broken Planet even further.
In Raiders of the Broken Planet you pick your protagonist and work together with three other players in a counter-operative adventure. The biggest idea underpinning the game is something akin to Dark Souls, where a single player, The Antagonist, can invade a match just as it begins and choose to fight alongside the bad guys against the four-player human team. The goal of this Antagonist is simply to troll the good guys and prevent them from achieving their mission objectives.
Three more campaigns will be released at regular intervals: Wardog Fury, Hades Betrayal and Council’s Apocalypse. Each campaign will tell a new parallel story, add new characters and offer exceptional value. The parallel stories mean players can jump in at any time, not feel lost with what’s going on and importantly not have to play the campaigns in any set order.
Each upcoming campaign will be developed in conjunction with feedback from the growing community, turning Raiders of the Broken Planet into something those invested in the game really want. This is developer and audience making a game together in real time. “We want to be a developer in constant dialogue with our audience and ethical in our dealings at all times,” said Enric Alvarez, Studio Head at Mercury Steam. “Games are expensive and sometimes disappoint after all the media hype. We think allowing players to jump in for free is fair and if they like what they see, paying a reasonable price for more content is a better way to win them over.”
To accompany the news, the team are proud to present a new cinematic trailer for the game just in time for Gamescom, where the game will be shown fully playable in multiplayer on Xbox One X in glorious 4K.
