Sudden Strike 4… Still Nothing New to Report?

I feel the need to apologize on behalf of Kalypso, the above trailer for Sudden Strike 4 shows very little difference to the one they sent us four months ago. When I complained about the lack of details and the lack of originality for their upcoming game. In their defense, the news that Sudden Strike 4 can pause during real time combat is something we didn’t know before, but it’s hardly earth shattering or new.

Being someone who loves this game genre, Company of Heroes Online was my favorite game ever, and still playing Company of Heroes all the time. (for those who haven’t picked it up, currently 75% off sale on Steam until December 19th) I loved Men of War, and even enjoyed Company of Heroes 2…a little. Then there’s Blitzkrieg 3 (30% off sale) which, if it isn’t as accomplished as the other games, at least it does something original with the idea.

Sudden Strike 4 looks really good, but right now, that’s the only thing it has to distinguish itself with. I’m hoping that the game will still surprise me. It may be that Kalypso didn’t attempt anything new, but they just polished the game to perfection, that would still be enough to make it worth getting. Right now though, I’m still waiting to know what Sudden Strike 4 will do to really make it stand out among the rest.
