May your weapon be guarded against malfunction,
As your soul is guarded from impurity.
The Machine God watches over you.
Unleash the weapons of war.
Unleash the Deathdealer.
– Chant for the prevention of malfunction

Kasedo Games and Bulwark Studios have just announced their latest project – Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus. For people not familiar with W40k, The Adeptus Mechanicus is a faction within the Imperium, responsible all high technology, and by high, I mean more advanced than a pencil sharpener.

Commonly known for their command of Imperial Titans (city sized engines of destruction), the Adeptus Mechanicus are actually a vast and mighty empire within the Imperium of Man.

With sole control and censure of all machines within the Imperium, the Adeptus Mechanicus have unprecedented power and autonomy. Their independence extends to having even their own religion, and their influence allows them to impress demands on even the Imperial Inquisition. The Adeptus Mechanicus are the culmination of all human brilliance, with the cold certainty that more knowledge has been lost than will ever be discovered again. They are power, and mystery, and obsession, and utter unquestioning subservience to the Omnissiah, who promises the end of all human weakness.

It’s about time the Adeptus Mechanicus got its own game.

Exact details of Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus are still scarce, however Kasedo have described Adeptus Mechanicus as a tactical turn based game, which traditionally has been a very good genre for W40k. From the teaser trailer, we can see that Kasedo are bringing modern production values (something not all W40k games have had) if they combine this quality, with the strategic gameplay that W40k excels at, then we are in for a real treat.

If you haven’t played any turn based W40k games then I highly recommend Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon, or if you are pure of spirit and have understand the litanies of GoG, then the Omnisaih may bless you with ancient wonders. With the correct prayers you can experience some the classic W40k turn based strategies now upgraded to run on modern machines. Rites of War is probably the best of these, and is currently available for for £1.19 and a rite of supplication to be intoned before you turn on your PC:

“The Machine Spirit guards the knowledge of the ancients. Flesh is fallible, but ritual honours the Machine Spirit. To break with ritual is to break with faith.”

All hail the Omnissiah.

Warhammer 40,000:Mechanicus – Announced

Announcement trailer introduces the Adeptus Mechanicus army to video gamers for the first time

Leicester, UK, 21st February

Hail the Omnissiah! The Adeptus Mechanicus are set to make their epic video game army debut as Kasedo Games announce a partnership with Games Workshop to bring a new experience to the Warhammer 40K universe. Get ready as turn-based tactical game, Warhammer® 40,000®: Mechanicustm, heads to PC, Mac & Linux later this year.

Mechanicus puts you in control of an array of Adeptus Mechanicus forces for the first time ever as you lead your priests and troops on a tactical quest to salvage ancient technologies from the mysterious tombs of the planet Silva Tenebris. As Magos Dominus Faustinius of Mars, your every decision will shape the missions ahead and have far reaching consequences for you and your team.

To celebrate the announcement, Kasedo Games have released a trailer which plays the recording of a deceased Tech-Priest, Magos Dominus Reditus, which shows his contempt for the weakness of human flesh, and his never ending service to The Machine God. In-game, Mechanicus will enable you to overcome these ‘human weaknesses’ to upgrade your troops with augments that will replace their human limbs with bionics and mechadendrites. These will provide mechanical and tactical advantages as you progress throughout the game.

“When Kasedo Games approached us with their exciting and original vision centering on the Adeptus Mechanicus race, the idea stood out as something we wanted to get behind.” Said Jon Gillard, Head of Licensing at Games Workshop. “Twinned with their clear knowledge of the 40K universe and passion for creating a game that fits the faction perfectly, we were more than happy to work together.”

Mechanicus also sees Kasedo Games, once again, partner up with French developer Bulwark Studios who previously worked together on strategy/RPG title, Crowntakers.

“Working with Bulwark on Mechanicus was an absolute no-brainer. They have all the skills required to make it an amazing game and their immersion into the Warhammer Universe has been second to none.” Said Andrew McKerrow, Producer and Product Manager at Kasedo Games. “This project has been in conception for a few years now and, having been a big Warhammer fan since a child, I’m thrilled that we can announce a unique title to the community”.

Mechanicus is scheduled for a late 2018 release and will be available for PC, Mac & Linux.
