Ubisoft Threatens to Punish Division Exploiters

Tom Clancy’s The Division was marketed as an MMO even though it’s not. It is a co-op mainly game with PvP and PvE elements. Being a loot focused title people are obviously grinding for gear, and some manage to find easier ways to get it by exploiting bugs.

After the recent Incursions patch Massive have been fighting an uphill battle to patch the loopholes but as soon as one is fixed two more are found. Unable to deal with it technically Ubisoft made an interesting decision to actually threaten to punish those players who managed to find and use the system’s deficiencies. A community manager on the official Ubi forums made the threat and pointed to the Code of Conduct as an excuse for any consequences.

All I can say to this is Dear Ubi, we bought the game and now we can do whatever we want. It is up to you to deal with the bugs and as far as I’m concerned as long a player doesn’t use any third party tools they aren’t doing anything wrong. Exploiting might be low but it’s far from cheating. All those people payed money and are just using the systems that are in already in the game. If you don’t want us running through the hallways – disable that. Otherwise it’s your problem.
