The Surge Jolts It’s Way Onto Steam

Today’s intense launch trailer for The Surge features a blend of the previous trailers with some new snippets and bits thrown about, which, we can be sure, is exactly what Deck13 were aiming for, intensity!

What with the game being all about punching (stabbing, hacking and bludgeoning) the shit out of every robot you see as you try to figure out what the hell went wrong here. By which I mean, fight just to stay alive, ’cause sod Creo…those sons of bitches have pretty clearly hanged you out to dry…or have they?

That’s the big question looming here isn’t it, and now that The Surge is finally available, we have our chance to find out exactly what caused all the mess. But let’s be honest, we’re all here for the “Robopocalypse” beat down and the constant dying and backtracking to collect our lost Tech parts while on the clock, over…and over…and over again (yay!).

So Exo-Suit up and get to it!

Official Press Release

The Surge celebrates release with action-packed Launch Trailer.

Hardcore action-RPG The Surge is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC! Battle through a world gone mad as Warren, on his first day of work at CREO – a megacorporation that has been hit by a devastating catastrophe. Today, prepare for The Surge’s brutal combat and dystopian setting with the action-packed Launch Trailer.

Balancing risk and reward is at the heart of The Surge, as the unique loot system gives you greater control over what you claim from defeated enemies. In visceral combat, individually target specific body parts, damaging them with a combination of vertical and horizontal attacks before slicing the part off entirely – and what you dismember directly determines what piece of equipment you loot. When approaching an enemy, you face a difficult decision: do you target an unarmored body part for a shorter fight, or risk a lengthier, damaging battle for a chance at slicing off a shiny new piece of equipment?

If you want the best loot you’ll need to take on the most difficult enemies, so positioning and speed are vital. Use your exo-enhanced dodges, blocks, ducks and jumps to avoid attacks while managing stamina, ensuring you’re always in the right place to strike the limb you want, or to avoid a potentially damning blow. The rules of combat apply to both you and your enemy: get hit in an unarmored limb, and you’ll go down faster. Take advantage of the enemy’s weaknesses while balancing your own, and you’ll walk away with their strengths!

The Surge is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One and PC. Visit the official website for more info.
