Steam Takes Video in 360 Degrees

As pointed out by an astute Reddit user, Valve have added a 360° video tool to Steam.

It seems to be geared more towards VR, given that it can be installed from the SteamVR tools section, but is also fully compatible with standard PC tech. At present, the number of videos available is, understandably, rather small. However, there’s a section of the Steam website which lists current selections, and will likely be updated with upcoming 360° video content.

Honestly, I’m actually rather surprised it has taken this long. YouTube, and even Facebook, have been doing 360° videos for a while now, and the tech behind it was primarily developed for use in VR headsets.

But hey, it’s there now, so it’s all good.
