Streum On Studio and Focus Home Interactive have recently went into detail about their upcoming tactical first-person shooter based in the Warhammer 40k universe, Space Hulk: Deathwing, powered by Unreal Engine 4. This new game in the series gives players the choice of going at it alone or taking on the Xeno threat with three buddies for a co-operative experience.

As the Librarian, you’ll take up arms with the notorious Storm Bolter, harnessing the devastating destructible force of the ‘Warp’ with your psychic powers. If slinging magic isn’t your forte, take up the Heavy Weapon support role, mowing down enemies left and right with your trusty assault cannon at the ready. What’s a co-operative class based game without the ever loving embrace of the Apothecary Paladin, tasked with keeping the team alive during the games many skirmishes. Something along the line as being a Rogue would be the melee-oriented Assault class, shredding foes furiously or storm the front line with their mighty shield and power mace. Finally, there’s the tactician specialist, bestowing passive buffs as they kite swarms of Genestealers to their doom.

I guess it’s safe to say, don’t go in alone, make sure you bring a battle buddy along for some fun. Teamwork is paramount to the success of the mission, the team of four will face insurmountable odds from brutally unrelenting floods of enemies through the crowded corridors and dark, dangerous tunnels of Space Hulk: Deathwing.

For all those itching to get their claws on the newest Space Hulk, you’ll have to wait till sometime in November, but don’t let that stop you from reserving a copy today. For all those who pre-order comes the added incentive of saving 15% of the sticker price, as well as obtaining an exclusive bonus weapon ‘the Lost Mace of Corswain’. Not too shabby if you ask me.

Official Press Release

Space Hulk: Deathwing showcases coop and pre-order details in new screenshots

Powered by Unreal 4, Space Hulk: Deathwing is a first person shooter, with tactical elements set in Games Workshop’s gritty Warhammer 40,000 universe. Today’s screenshots showcase an elite Terminator squad of the Deathwing as they cleanse a gigantic Space Hulk of the Xeno threat.

Space Hulk: Deathwing is playable cooperatively as well as in single player. You can join forces as up to four friends, with each of you playing a tactical role in Space Hulk: Deathwing. As the Librarian, you can take up arms with the infamous Storm Bolter and harness psychic powers to unleash destruction on the enemy. The heavy weapon support can mow down Genestealers with his assault cannon, while the Apothecary is tasked with keeping the squad alive. The melee-oriented assault class can shred foes with brutal assault claws, or barge through the front line with shield and power mace. Finally, a tactician specialist can support the team with a passive buff as well as other abilities, which is useful for controlling the swarms of Genestealers. Teamwork is the key to success against the insurmountable enemy force, constantly flooding through the tunnels and corridors of the Space Hulk.

Players will be able to pre-order the game on Steam at 10am PDT, and will benefit from the following bonuses:

  • 15% off the price of the game
  • 1 in-game weapon – the Lost Mace of Corswain

I honestly never got into the 40k Warhammer games, they were "old" by the time I discovered them, sometimes it hard to get into an older game without the magical effect of Nostolgia, but the first Space Hulk and even the Space Marine one off look pretty cool, I should probably download them and give them a try eh?

It looks really good but to be honest even the worst games in Unreal Engine 4 look great. Hope it plays well though, recent W40K games are much better than in the past and it's Focus Home.
