Shadow Of The Tomb Raider Revealed

Okay, first things first, go watch that great trailer embedded above and take a minute to appreciate how badass Lara is looking these days. All done? Great! She sounds great too thanks to the presence of Camilla Luddington (who even sounds like a Tomb Raider villain) who has performed Lara for the past two games. Crystal Dynamics are on development duty as usual, working on the game for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Shadow Of The Tomb Raider is already lined up for a release date of 14 September 2018.

That’s the pure information out of the way, let’s take a closer look at that trailer; from the looks of things Lara will be taking a trip to the southern half of the American continent, probably the Amazon jungle. We’ve got an eclipse and what looks to be either a Mayan priest preparing for a ritual sacrifice – events that are undoubtedly linked to the pivotal “Mayan apocalypse” but whether or not they’re going to be the core supernatural enemy or not remains to be seen. We’ve also got shots of soldiers pursuing Lara through the jungle, faces painted to look like skulls. The trailer provides a good look at their equipment and they appear to be carrying M4s, which doesn’t really help us narrow down the country these soldiers belong to thanks to almost every military on the continent using that rifle. If we had to take a stab at it though we’d guess Peruvian based on the face-paint, though the Mayan setting would probably mean Belize.

We also get a good look at Lara’s equipment too: the climbing pick is still present, as is her bow. She’s also using what looks like a makeshift knife when dispatching the soldiers and she leaves it behind. We also see one soldier get shot with an arrow and then yanked up into the branches of a nearby tree – possibly indicating a new ability for Lara. There’s also the game’s mysterious Mayan scenes – we’re absolutely baffled about whether it’s time travel or Lara finding a hidden city in the jungle.

Stay tuned for more info as we get it because we’re well aboard the hype train for Shadow Of The Tomb Raider.
