The sequel to the hit MMOFPS Destiny is coming to modern PCs and consoles on September 8th, revealed in the new trailer. With a city on fire and the Cabal approaching, the three major Vanguards from the first Destiny attempt to rally the troops, with varying levels of success. Cayde-6, Zavala, and Ikora Rey all make an appearance, with some strangely direct references to the fact that your gear will not carry over and that “there will be tons of loot.” Right…

Awkward voice lines aside, the Destiny 2 teaser does carry a surprising amount of characterization not present in Destiny’s initial release. The first was rightfully criticized for lacking characterization, an obtuse story, and moving codex entries to a phone app/Bungie’s official website. Hopefully Bungie has learned something from their mistakes the first time around, although, if this initial look is any indication, that will be the case.

Of course, with every game announcement comes a pre-order package, and Destiny 2 is no different, with your pre-order unlocking access to the beta, set to run “sometime this summer” on whichever platform you choose. Do note that this is “Early Beta Access”, meaning we could see a wider release for those that don’t pre-order the game. Regardless, you can pre-order a staggering five different versions, well ahead of Destiny 2’s fall release.

With a gameplay premiere coming May 18th, and full release coming on September 8th, fans of futuristic MMOFPS action games won’t have to wait long to slake their thirst for Destiny 2.
