An Introduction To Cloning in Genesis Alpha One

Posted on 23 Aug 2017

Team 17 have dropped trailers all over the place today, since we found them and can’t give them back we’re going to share them with you lot instead. I’m sure that’s what they’d want.

First up we have Genesis Alpha One a first person shooter set aboard a space ship where you clone your crew, you can also take alien DNA to splice into your clones to give them new abilities or, in the case of the Golem, make them look like a burnt peanut.

There’s also a brief bit in the video that shows a building menu where rooms can be built and destroyed to change the layout of the ship, on the right-hand side of this brief snippet you can also see resources are required and presumably gathered by the player through runs too.

It’s not entirely clear if this is a rogue-lite type situation or if your clones are supposed to survive their excursions into the alien infested ship but it certainly looks fun either way.

As usual, there’s no solid release date other than 2018 but we do know the game is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Official Press Release

Our planet has been left ravaged by war; pollution and over-exploitation of resources, humanity’s hope lies with the Genesis Program and the promise of a new home. As the Captain of a Genesis star ship, you journey into uncharted space on this ultimate mission and you must create a crew capable of fighting the alien infestations that threaten it. Take DNA from the aliens that you encounter and splice it with your crew members to give them new abilities and a better chance to prosper within a hostile galaxy.

Your goal: Find new homes for humanity’s DNA and save the species from extinction. Genesis: Alpha One is heading to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in 2018.
